Picking to Pictures 12-13-11
More below the fold
This picture is from the sea of Cortez. Taken while riding in a water taxi, in fairly rough seas. I was quite seasick at the time. Note to self: never put a camera to your eye while in a small boat in rough seas.
The music is a little thing I wrote on 12-11-11. The working title was “Perfect Rectilinear Retrograde”, but that makes about as much sense as “Untitled #12″, and the latter won out in the end.
The photo was taken with a Canon t2i and the 17-50f2.8 EF lens. I was in shutter priority, at 1/400, trying to maximize depth of field while minimizing the blur from camera shake, or I should say, boat pitch and roll.
The music was written and recorded on a sunday afternoon using Logic Pro 9. I played a Larrivee dreadnaught into a stereo pair of Cascade Fat head ribbon mics. I overdubbed some other acoustic tracks and used the amazing delay designer plugin in Logic to get some interesting movement going on.
I also used a few of the built in synths, as well as the stellar Animoog iPad synth. The Animoog is the sample and hold patch you hear throughout most of the song.
